Medellín in 4 days

With four days the trip changes: you no longer have to choose between the city and Guatapé, and there is a day left for whatever calls you most, whether that is paragliding or a morning on a coffee farm.

Day 1: the city

Start in the centre and finish at Pueblito Paisa at sunset: it is the day that gets you oriented and the least tiring one after a flight. It is the route of the Medellín City Tour (USD $110 per vehicle, up to 4 people). Evening in El Poblado or Provenza.

Day 2: Guatapé and the Piedra del Peñol

Leave between 7 and 8 a.m., climb the rock early (740 steps, 25 to 40 minutes at an easy pace), lunch over the reservoir and the village of painted zócalos in the afternoon. 8 to 10 hours on the private Guatapé tour. The rock entry fee, COP 30,000 per person, is extra. More in things to do in Guatapé.

Day 3: Comuna 13 and a free afternoon

After the long day, a shorter one: Comuna 13 Tour in the morning, 3 to 4 hours in total. If recent history interests you, the afternoon suits the Pablo Escobar History Tour; we explain the pairing in Comuna 13 and Pablo Escobar in one day.

Day 4: paragliding or a coffee farm

Paragliding at San Félix is a 15 to 30-minute tandem flight over the valley, with a transfer from your hotel; the best winds usually come between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. It is a complete package: USD $190 for one person, USD $279 for two.

The Coffee Experience is the relaxed option: one tour a day, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on a farm 30 to 40 minutes away, with picking, a tasting and a paisa lunch. It is USD $52 per person, transport not included; we quote the transfer.

What if you have five days?

A fifth day makes room for Hacienda Nápoles, a full 13 to 14-hour day that leaves space for nothing else. It is the best family day out from Medellín.

Frequently asked questions

Is four days too much for Medellín?
No. It is three days of city and day trip plus one for whatever interests you most, without rushing. From day five the trip slows down, and that is enjoyable too.
Paragliding or a coffee farm?
For adrenaline and views, paragliding; for something calm with good food, the farm. Both can fit on one day if you fly early, but the farm has a fixed schedule (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.): ask us before planning it.
Is there a package price for the four days?
For two or more days we put together a package price. See how a package is built or message us with your dates.
What order works best?
Guatapé in the middle of the trip, never on the day you arrive. Comuna 13 means more once you understand the city.
