Medellín Christmas Lights
More than 35 million lights along the river. A private night tour, December and January only.
Medellín at night has two sides: the city lit up seen from above, which is a relaxed plan, and the nightlife of El Poblado, Provenza and Laureles. Both are better when you know where to go and how to get back.

The best relaxed night plan in Medellín is watching it light up from a viewpoint. Pueblito Paisa, on Cerro Nutibara, has a 360° view over the Aburrá Valley. The Medellín City Tour lasts 4 to 5 hours and you choose the start time: leave in the afternoon and the route ends there as the city lights up (USD $110 per vehicle, up to 4 people). More options in Medellín viewpoints.
Every December Medellín switches on millions of lights along the river, in Parque de las Luces and across the neighbourhoods. It is the night plan, and in a private car you skip the worst of it: traffic and hunting for parking. The Christmas lights tour picks you up between 6 and 7 p.m., lasts 4 to 5 hours (extra hour COP 50,000) and drops you back at your hotel. Dates and route in the Christmas lights guide.
El Poblado and Provenza are full of bars, restaurants and clubs; Manila and Laureles have a more neighbourhood feel; Envigado is calm and very paisa. These are areas you can walk at night like any big city. The centre changes character after dark and has little to offer a visitor at that hour.
We do not run guided nightlife or bar tours. If you want a car to take you and wait for you at night, ask us on WhatsApp: it is not a tour with a published price.
What prevents most problems is how you get home. Order the car through an app or your hotel, so the trip and the driver are on record. And the local rule, "no dar papaya": phone in your pocket, no counting cash in the street, and never accept a drink or a cigarette from a stranger. The full picture is in is Medellín safe to visit?.
If your flight lands at night, the private transfer runs 24 hours (USD $55 per vehicle, up to 4 people).
